L’ultimo caso e’ avvenuto un paio di giorni fa in Texas nel Lone Star College di North Harris. 2 vittime, ha seguito solo di poco la sparatoria avvenuta nel parcheggio di un altro college in Kentucky che a sua volta ha seguito la sparatoria di Albuquerque in New Mexico dove un quindicenne ha sparato su padre, madre e tre fratelli.
Questi casi hanno seguito quello del venti Dicembre di Newton in Connecticut. Che naturalmente ha seguito qualche altro caso e che a loro volta sono stati preceduti da altri. Negli Stati Uniti, ufficialmente un paese in pace con i vicini, senza guerra civile, senza eserciti nemici che occupano il territorio, avvengono più’ omicidi commessi con armi da fuoco che in un nessun altro paese. Anche di quelli in guerra.
12,179 persone sono state uccise l’anno scorso con pistole, mitragliatrici, fucili e via dicendo.
44,769 sono state ferite.
2,966 bambini e adolescenti sono stati uccisi.
14,008 sono stati feriti.
Ammettiamolo: Il Secondo Emendamento della Costituzione e’ soltanto la scusa usata dai trafficanti di armi (io li definisco in questo modo) per arricchirsi sulla pelle di poveri disgraziati. La NRA e’ un’associazione malvagia che dovrebbe essere bandita come organizzazione criminale, mentre invece, grazie ai soldi guadagnati sul sangue delle vittime riesce ad influenzare il Congresso Americano. Questa non e’ vera democrazia. A volte ho l’impressione che sia la Cuba pre-Castro.
Il Secondo Emendamento e’ un’affermazione obsoleta scritta nel 1791 in un contesto storico completamente diverso da quello di oggi. Lo si riconosca una volta per tutte.
Per circa due secoli la Roma Imperiale ebbe un periodo di relativa pace, conosciuto come la Pax Romana.
Avremo mai una vera Pax Americana?

I agree with your post – and the right to bear arms is one of the most divisive issue we have in the states. I hope any meaningful policy change that results from Newton can actually make a difference . I have my faith in Senator Diane Feinstein (Democrat) of California!
Policies and laws should always, in my opinion serve and protect ALL citizens.

“Pax Americana” … isn’t that a contradiction in terms?
Face it—all boils down to Mindset. Americans are conditioned to violence (so long as they have the biggest gun). You cannot look at the American situation from anything but an American viewpoint; and be warned: Americans ain’t like us.

You are mixing apples and oranges. Banning firearms will not eliminate violence in society. Violence is part of human nature. Banning firearms does nothing but remove the ability of a free person to protect themselves from violence visited upon them.
I respect your concern for victims of violence but I do not wish to be turned into a victim because society has regulated away my right to self defense.
